A basic level of Spanish that will enable you to carry on basic conversations about everyday activities. Emphasis is placed on language usage, both spoken and written. Building a good vocabulary is a major focus as well overcoming the fear and awkwardness of beginning to speak another language. Grammar concepts are introduced and aid in the practical application of the Spanish language. While a good understanding of grammar is essential, being able to describe in detail the grammar of Spanish is not the focus of this class.
Presentations are given weekly. One week is an oral presentation and the next is a written one. Videos and audio files are used as well as Google Earth and online textbooks.
